The Machinery Directive and PUWER

The issue of safety in the workplace is becoming increasingly important for machinery manufacturers who are forced to sort out a mass of continuously evolving standards, the focal point of which remains the Machinery Directive.

The Machinery Directive and the Provision and Use of Working Equipment Regulations (PUWER) currently places huge emphasis on safety in the workplace.

In order to ensure the conformity of a machine, the manufacturer must verify that it meets the safety requirements listed in the directive and guarantee compliance with the harmonised standards published in the European Union’s Official Journal and relating to the product in question.

Find out more about the Machinery Directive here.

Health and Safety in the Use of Compressed Air

Although compressed air has an extremely good health and safety record, it must still be handled with care and treated with respect as it is still a very powerful medium.

Abusing compressed air can result in serious injury or even death. Jets of compressed air must NEVER be directed against the body or come in contact with skin. Human skin is porous, so cannot be exposed to such high pressures. Do not restrict or stop exhausting compressed air with your body.

Ensure fingers and hands are kept out of the path of compressed air powered mechanisms and cylinders.

When carrying out maintenance or repairs to compressed air systems, ensure all air is completely exhausted from the system., to prevent any machinery from springing into action unexpectedly.

Airlane Compressed Air Safety Survey

New for 2018, Airlane Pneumatics have introduced a full Compressed Air Survey for manufacturers who use compressed air. Within this survey we will complete a full heath and safety check of all machines and systems.

The Unique Airlane Pneumatics Compressed Air Safety Survey Covers the Following:

» A Comprehensive In Depth Check that you are Using Compressed Air Safely

» A Comprehensive Check that your Pneumatic Control Systems are Safe to Use

» The Location and Identification of the cause of all Compressed Air Leaks

» Basic Training for your Engineers in the use of Pneumatic Safety Equipment

The Airlane Solution

We work throughout the North East of England and are based in Sunderland.
