What is a Pneumatic Cylinder?
Actuators – by definition, when they are actuated they impart or produce either linear or rotary motion. They are available in many sizes, shapes and configurations. They give machine designers multiple options to achieve the best solution for their application.
They often conform to dimensional standards like ISO 6432 & ISO 15552. However, most manufacturers have their own bespoke ranges or have duplicates of similar products made by other manufacturers.
Pneumatic Cylinder Repair
Most cylinders are inexpensive meaning that the costs to repair them outweighs the cost of new cylinders. However, notable exceptions include Heavy Duty Cylinders, Pneumatic Rodless Cylinders, Electric Drive Rodless Cylinders and Pressure Boosters.
And remember, recycling is good for the environment too!
At Airlane we have amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience repairing these types of cylinders from various manufacturers including Norgren, Festo, Parker Origa, SMC, CKD, MetalWork, Univer, etc.
We use only genuine service kits and spares supplied directly from the original manufacturer.
We recently repaired a Norgren Heavy Duty cylinder.
The left Cylinder is fully refurbished including new seals, piston rod and tie rods. Pressure, function and leak tested before returning to the site. The middle cylinder is in need of refurbishment. The new piston rod, seal kit and tie rods were replaced and/or refitted. Lastly, the cylinder on the right is a new Heavy Duty Cylinder with Trunnion Mounting supplied to replace cylinder that was beyond economical repair.
